The Move

Jaime Thomas

(Sometimes posts become less frequent. That isn't because I am losing creativity or neglecting to post. I just moved from South Carolina to Nashville, TN. That has prevented me from doing shoots or posting.)

I'm anxious to create. It's an exhilarating feeling when you find someone wanting to create with you - whether it be a fellow photographer or creative, or a model. Listening to someone talk about their creative process is just as fun as coming up with your own.

I got to watch Miss Jaime Thomas talk about her artwork and see her work on some of her paintings. I loved hearing her process. How I view the world is different than her. Her creative view is different. She created some of the best portrait paintings I've seen.

"The creative process was letting each person choose a fabric that they felt symbolized them, and to try to paint each person in both deep shadow and great light, to represent their inner emotions."

Creativity is something that is obtained by mere practice and willpower. It isn't easy. Some people have a special gift in a specific art, I did not. I was always interesting in photography, but I didn't have any special creativity or gift for it. I just went and took photos. Everyone says "You have an eye for this," and that might be partially responsible. Most, however, came from practice and multiple click on a shutter to create some things viewers see today.

Six months ago, I would have never thought of doing something like the "Color Shoot," but what is the amazing thing, is now that I've created something like that, I can create even more. Creativity never stops. Sometimes it's set on pause due to a move, or an inability simply because of the lack of equipment, but the creative process - the mind - is still available and able to think of beautiful creations only waiting to come to reality.

It's special when you can create with other people. And I'm so thankful to be here in Nashville where everyone is creative. I can't wait to keep creating.

Until next time,
